Family Law FAQ
A child’s relationship with his parents during and after Divorce varies from family to family. Most children learn to adapt with two separate households and moving back and forth from one to the other. Structure is extremely important in a child’s life.
Children may not understand divorce. They do understand that their family is being broken up however, and get a good sense that things have changed during the break up. A good scenario, but not always the common one is when children can sense that their mother and father can be depended upon – no matter what the situation. This provides a child with a sense of security allowing them to better focus on school work and friends.
It is important as a divorcing adult, to understand a child’s perspective in a Divorce. When you learn the potential turmoil that could result, you are gaining a better understanding of a child’s world. You will then be able to obtain the tools to aide in being a committed parent, before, during and after the Divorce process.
